Skid Row Community Improvement Coalition and the City of LA worked to provide the first Hygiene Center in the heart of Skid Row. Coordinating with the Coalition, the Homelessness Policy Director, the Deputy Mayor of Economic Empowerment in LA, local vendors, businesses and homeless support services, we added trees, plants, shade, lights, and furniture to make the ReFresh Spot a welcoming place. At the second location we worked with the SRCIC, Homeless Healthcare, and Social Model Recovery Systems. The ReFresh Spot 2.0 is three times the size and offce42 worked with the LA Conservation Corps to plant trees to provide shade. We invited volunteers for a Build Day to plant and paint a mural. This is a safe place where the community experiencing homelessness can come and take showers, do laundry, and gain overall services all within a peaceful environment.
